There is such a thing as a free lunch

August 11th, 2010

Current rating: 5/5

How much do you spend on lunch every day? £5? £8? £10 on a Friday? or even £20 if you work in Kensington and go to Whole Foods.

It all mounts up. Spend £5 a day and you'll be spending £25 a week, that's a whopping £100 or so every month!

Have you ever thought about bringing in your own lunch to work? I know it's not quite as glamorous as some of the city-centre delights on offer, and it's more of a hassle than just buying a cheese and ham sarnie from the sandwich lady. But think of all the money you'll save if you get up even five minutes earlier to prepare something in the morning. You can use up any leftovers, so throwing food out becomes a thing of the past.

Old fashioned? Perhaps. But then a lot of old fashioned things make a lot of sense when put into context.
