It only seems like yesterday that I was packing away my Christmas decorations for another year. And here I am putting my tree up again this year. I would normally wait until a week before Christmas but have been constantly badgered by my son to put it up. He tells me that "we put it up on 1^st December". I’m not quite sure how that became family policy.

My son is also badgering me on the present front. Have I bought him anything yet? if so, what is it? etc etc. It has made me think about the best present that I ever bought him. Although he would say that it never quite matched up to the XBOX, his very own ATM did come very close.

We have a sideboard in our living room with an open cupboard on the front and that is where his very own hole in the wall sits.

Essentially a money box, Science Museum do a nifty product that is just like a real cash machine, complete with card and pin number to make cash deposits and withdrawals. It lets you deposit coins, pulls in your paper money and gives a running balance. It is a very clever item that has encouraged my son to save more than ever.

The best thing about the ATM is how fascinated friends and family are with it. They get a demonstration of how it works, but they have to supply the money for the demo. Now they all want one!

Forget the piggy banks, forget the novelty coin collectors - if you want a 21st century way of storing your money then this it.
