Current rating: 1/5

Geoffrey is Group Pensions Director. He is married with two grown up children who are costing him a fortune! His pride and joy is his 1949 Triumph Roadster.

How would you rate your own financial awareness? Having spent my entire career in a financial job I would hope it is least above average but I still find my eye is often off the ball in my own financial affairs. I get my best financial advice from retired colleagues who spend hours poring through the personal finance pages of the weekend newspapers!

Are you a saver or a spender? A bit of both really, and in spurts of activity (or inactivity) on both counts.

Are you a fan of price comparison sites? No, not really. I sometimes have a look, then make my own mind up from separate comparisons. I guess I am suspicious about the source of financing but expect to spend hours on these sites when I get to retirement. It's the new bingo, isn't it?

Best investment/worst investment? The best has been my classic car, a 1949 Triumph Roadster. I actually haven't had to spend much on it after a flurry of bills in the first few months of ownership. It has probably increased in value by around 30% since I bought and finished restoring it three years ago.

The worst was a bottle of 1985 Penfolds Grange, which I kept for the Millennium and was corked when I opened it with due ceremony at midnight. The most expensive bottle of vinegar I have owned!

Best money saving tip? Buy a house in an area that has a range of good schools - I wish I had!

Do you have a golden rule when it comes to your finances? Make sure you enjoy the money you have available to spend - no point otherwise. Buy something really expensive occasionally - you're dead a long time!
