Being made redundant can be one of the most stressful times in your life - particularly if you weren't expecting it.
However, there is a range of support available to help you cope with redundancy.
If you're made redundant you should receive all the salary that is due to you, plus payment for any of your notice period that you have not worked. You should also receive payment for holidays that you have not taken, and any redundancy pay and a letter stating the date of your redundancy.
You can work out the statutory minimum payment that you would get on being made redundant although your company may pay a higher amount.
If you're looking for a new job your local Jobcentre Plus may be able to help, alternatively one of their advisers may be able to help with any State benefits that you might be eligible to claim. Or you can apply or claim for these benefits online.
The internet is growing in popularity for searching for jobs. If you don't have a computer at home then most libraries have this facility.
